A friend of mine has challenged me to practicing yoga everyday for the next 30 days. Wonderful! I love it! Sometimes I need a little challenge in my life to add a little Umph. For those who’d like similar inspiration, her lovely blog is right here:
I love yoga. That’s no surprise. However, I don’t get to practice every day, for whatever reason… time, kids, work, or just being plain tired. BUT, I am down for this challenge. And I’m going to try things I’ve never done before to reach the 30 days, like wake up at 5am or earlier to practice. Oh my goodness, yeah I know. Though I’m determined, we’ll see. I’ve set the intention of exploration. I will make it to the studio on days that allow it – and on days that don’t, my home practice will roll out.
Yesterday was my first day. I came home from work and kissed the girls goodbye as they went off with their dad. I had my yoga pants on and my mat rolled out ready to go. I had dinner plans but a little time before to squeeze in a little yoga. 35 minutes is what I gave myself. I explored a new sequence I found in Yoga Journal magazine and loved it. Sure it wasn’t the normal 90 minutes I usually practice, but it was sufficient. It felt good.
Today, my second day, consisted of a Sun Power Bhakti class at Yoga Den with one of my favorite teachers. Love Yoga Den! Then I came home and taught a Vinyasa class on the deck in my backyard. It’s lovely there under the huge, shady oak tree. The breeze was blowing and the birds were chirping. This is something new I’ve started and it’s going well. I love learning from them as much as they are learning from me. A beautiful give and take. Yin and yang.
